The Lee County School Improvement Center was established during the 2004-2005 school year in accordance with §37-13-92 of the Mississippi Code of 1972, as annotated and amended.
The purpose of Lee County Schools’ Improvement Center is to provide a safe alternative educational environment for students who are transitioning into public school from a private or institutional setting, who cannot function in a normal classroom environment due to behavioral challenges, or whose behavior, as outlined in §37-13-92 of the MS Code, is determined by the Superintendent or Principal to be a disruption to the educational environment of their respective school or a detriment to the best interest and welfare of students and teachers as a whole.
The Lee County Schools Improvement Center proudly serves students from all
schools within the
The Improvement Center facility is on Endville Road, located just behind the Belden Post Office off of McCullough Boulevard in Tupelo. Many people will recognize our location as once having been Belden School. Our facility has also previously housed the county Head Start and Lift, Inc. The building itself was remodeled during the summer of 2005 and received its first LCSIC students at the beginning of the 2005-2006 school year. The Improvement Center had previous been located on the Plantersville School campus during the 2004-2005 school year.

The Improvement Center offers students an environment with little distraction that is very conducive to learning. Teacher/student ratios are kept lower than traditional classrooms and accommodations are conveniently located, which helps us create a safer, more manageable environment. Teachers have easier access to students, and one another, throughout the day to ensure a steady flow of communication and the availability of multi-subject area classroom materials and instruction for students at all times.
Students assigned to the Improvement Center find that the administration has high expectations for both personal behavior and educational studies. The facility organization and maintenance effort put forth by the District has provided students with a campus they can take pride in and one that projects the high standards set forth.
