Welcome to Saltillo Primary School

Saltillo Primary School's student success can be attributed to the willingness  of teachers to adjust  teaching methods to meet the ability levels of all students. Saltillo Primary School has an excellent faculty who continuously self-evaluate and seek professional development. This degree of commitment ensures that all of our students are successful learners.

School Cast provides messaging via multiple communication vehicles–email, text messages, cell or landline voice calls, and PDAs/Blackberries. By supporting all major means of communication common today . School Cast makes it easy for everyone to receive alerts and notifications at home, at work, in there car, on campus- anywhere. Please continue to update contact data. If one receives a school cast from Lee County Schools about early dismissal, the time is for buses departing  campuses.

"Tiger Time"

We are excited about this school year! We are implementing some new instructional and grading strategies that will improve the academic achievement of your child. Our instructional method is a research based model that is being implemented with success throughout the country. All students will receive core instruction in Language and Math as aligned with Mississippi Curriculum Framework. Each student will also receive direct instruction at the student’s instructional and/or skill level. We have “named” our Language Instructional time “TIGER TIME”.

Our new grading policy will provide more valid and detailed information regarding your child’s academic progress. Mississippi Department of Education utilizes Levels of Proficiency

( Proficient, Basic, and Minimal) to communicate grades. These Levels will replace the A, B, C, D, and F used in the past. Pacing Guides that identify each required skill and the expected proficiency is available on the  www.leecountyschools.us website, (click on Pacing Guide). If you have any questions regarding instruction or grading please contact your child’s teacher, our school counselors or administration. Thank you for your support.

How to support your child's learning

Look, Listen and Learn     about their preferred learning styles / intelligences, their interests, difficulties and how they see themselves as a learner. Don't make assumptions!

Love and Let Go. Love their individuality, consider how it can enrich your own life. Let go of your own

hopes, aspirations and 'standards' and help them to develop their own.

Links not Lectures. Encourage them to make their own connection rather than inform, inform, inform...unless your answering a question!!! Develop those thinking skills!

Lots of Talking. (couldn't think of another 'L' word) Two way communication!!
