Learning About September 11, 2001

Seventh grade students spent time learning about the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on America.
Lt. Col. Palmer Triplett and his wife Lera graciously had a video produced for GMS seventh grade American history students in memory of 9/11. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Tripletts were unable to personally speak to students in person as they have in previous years. They generously agreed to seek production possibilities and provide social studies teacher Ms. Sharon Martin with access to their presentation.
Meanwhile, students in Ms. Janet Carroll's ELA classes were also part of the experience.
Students learned what it means to place items and events in "chronological order." Ms. Carroll says through educational websites, the students also learned about the day of September 11, 2001. They were able to visually understand how the day unfolded and also used headphones and earbuds to hear actual audio from certain moments in the day.
