Announcements

Mooreville High School senior Aiden Nichols has been named STAR Student for the 2023-2024 school year by the Mississippi Economic Council (MEC) M.B. Swayze Foundation, sponsor of the Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program.

STAR Students are selected on the basis of academic excellence. Each STAR Student is asked to designate a STAR Teacher - the teacher who has made the greatest contribution to the student's scholastic achievement.

Mooreville High School teacher Amy Vanlandingham was designated as STAR Teacher.

Hundreds of STAR Students and STAR Teachers in Mississippi will be recognized during MEC's prestigious Education Celebration event in Pearl.

Congratulations to Chris and Natasha Hussey on being named as our 2023-24 Parents of the Year! We are blessed to have this Trooper family. Our thanks to the Husseys for their unwavering support of our school, teachers and students!

We are proud to announce our 2023-24 Teacher of the Year, Savannah Tucker! Mrs. Tucker teaches our Lifeskills class here at MHS. She works hard to incorporate authentic learning experiences into her daily lessons, and her students continue to reap the benefits. She loves her students so well, and we are thankful she’s a Trooper! Join us in congratulating Mrs. Tucker!

Analynn Keith and Emily Rushing have been selected as new members of the State Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council for 2023-24.

Students on the council come from different backgrounds, school sizes and regions in Mississippi. They will be able to share their opinions and offer advice about educational opportunities and policy in Mississippi with Dr. Ray Morgigno, interim state superintendent of education. The student group will act as liaisons between the Mississippi Department of Education and public school students from across the state.

We congratulate Analynn and Emily! They will represent Mooreville and Lee County well.
