Project SEARCH Graduation
Congratulations to Saltillo High School student Tyler Thompson, who graduated on May 12, 2023, from the Project SEARCH program at North Mississippi Medical Center. Family and friends joined officials from the school district, hospital, and Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services to celebrate this accomplishment.
Tyler spent the last year taking class at the hospital with teacher Susan Dudley. He also served as an intern in four different NMMC departments: Supply, Processing, and Distribution, Centralized Monitoring, Radiology, and Emergency Services. The goal is to help students gain new social, communication and life skills. We're happy to report that Tyler was very successful with this whole experience!
Project SEARCH is a national program designed to help students with disabilities obtain competitive community-based employment. NMMC is one of more than a dozen sites in Mississippi. The hospital can host interns from any of our high schools.
We are so proud of Tyler, and we wish him all the best in the future!
