Students in STEM classes at Guntown Middle School just got a big boost, thanks to the generous support of the Tennessee Valley Authority, Tombigbee Electric Power Association, and Bicentennial Volunteers, Inc.
Today, representatives presented Guntown Middle teacher Julia Smith with a $5,000 grant to enhance our STEM curriculum. This will allow students more opportunities to grow in science, technology, engineering and math.
A highly competitive program, the TVA STEM Awards have gone to 339 schools this year out of 528 applications from across TVA's seven state service area. That equals to $1.5 million in grants specifically for STEM education.
Congratulations to Mrs. Smith and Guntown Middle, who we know will use this gift to invest in the latest hands-on activities and programs for students!
