Each year on September 15, people around the world celebrate Dot Day, a global event that honors creativity, courage, and collaboration. The celebration began in 2009 when teacher Terry Shay introduced his students to The Dot, a beloved children’s book by Peter H. Reynolds. The story follows Vashti, a student who discovers her artistic confidence and potential after starting with just a single dot on a page.

Dot Day encourages everyone to explore their own creativity and to “make their mark” on the world through art, imagination, and self-expression.

Ms. Moya’s art students joined in the celebration by designing their own colorful dots using coffee filters, markers, and water. Their vibrant creations were not only fun to make but also served as a reminder of the Dot Day message: “Make your mark and see where it takes you.”
