Mooreville Middle School seventh and eighth grade Discovery students recently stepped outside the classroom for a hands-on learning experience at the local courthouse.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to hear from several key members of the judicial system, including Sheriff Jim Johnson, Honorable Judge John White, Assistant District Attorney Megan French, District Attorney Jason Herring, and Public Defender Will Bristow. Each speaker shared insight into their role within the court system and explained how the judicial process works at the local level.
Students learned about the responsibilities of judges, prosecutors, and defense attorneys, as well as the importance of due process and the rule of law. The experience allowed students to connect classroom lessons on government and civics to real-world applications.
The visit reflects Mooreville Middle School’s continued commitment to engaging students through interactive and community-based learning opportunities.
