Each semester, students in Ms. Taffie Ray's gifted class at Verona Elementary compete in a mock stock market game, working as a team to buy and sell stocks. And each semester, the state recognizes the top three teams in elementary, middle, and high school divisions. Students must stay abreast of current affairs, global developments, and stock market trends that affect the global and American economies.
This semester, Ms. Ray's Hogwarts team (Keira Raden, Dominic Hinton, and Xzavion Lewis) placed third out of 993 teams statewide! They will be recognized next month during an awards ceremony and reception at Jackson State University. This is a great honor for all of the hard work by these young investors!
