Congratulations to Saltillo High School senior Keira Ikemori for being named as a National Merit Finalist! This is a huge accomplishment that very few students achieve. We are proud of you, Keira!

Guntown Middle students had the rare opportunity to talk one-on-one with a retired NASA Astronaut! Fred Haise spoke virtually to all sixth graders from his home in Texas. Mr. Haise, who is now 91 years old, was a lunar module pilot for Apollo 13 back in 1970.
Verona Elementary 3rd graders had a wonderful day of science experiments and hands-on fun! This particular STEM lesson was made possible through a generous Driving Possibilities grant from Toyota and in partnership with the University of Mississippi Center for Mathematics and Science Education.

This is a fun and inspirational event to show support for our Special Olympics athletes headed to the state games in Biloxi this month. 🏅

Construction on a multi-purpose building at Saltillo High (1st & 2nd pics) and a hitting facility at Shannon High is moving right along! LCSD Maintenance and Facilities Director Blake Edwards says work should be completed on schedule, and these needed facilities will be ready for students in the new school year.



New backpacks for the State Special Olympics in two weeks! All the best to these students as they travel to Biloxi.








Shannon High School welcomed Mississippi Valley State University President Dr. Jerryl Briggs to its campus today. We appreciate Dr. Briggs making time to speak to our juniors and seniors!

Ag & Natural Resources students at the CTE Center helped employees at the Private John Allen Fish Hatchery seine the ponds to collect alligator gar. Students learned about the spawning process and DNA analysis while relocating the fish.









Great to see so many friends and meet new ones at last week's Taste of Tupelo! Lee County School District F.A.C.E. (Families, Agencies, Community, Education) handed out learning packets and registered volunteers for F.A.C.E.
