Homecoming week / 7th grade teachers / Surfers vs Bikers!

Thanks to Saltillo Main Street for lending us safety vests to wear for Construction Day last week!

Last volleyball game of the year is at home today vs. Shannon. Please come out and support these young ladies before going over to the high school for the homecoming parade (6:00). 7th grade starts at 4:30 and 8th to follow right after. Games are played at the high school playing gym across from the Elementary and entry is $5. Go Lady Tigers!!!!!

GMS football is at home this afternoon against the Booneville Blue Devils. 7th grade will kick us off at 5:30 with the 8th grade to follow. Games are played at Saltillo High School and admission is $5. We hope to see you there. Go Tigers!!!

Guntown Middle sixth graders learned about fractions using Hershey's chocolate bars and The Hershey's Milk Chocolate Fractions Book by Jerry Pallotta. What a 'sweet way' to learn about fractions and other math concepts!

Guntown Middle 7th graders read the stories, Stargirl and Seventh Grade. Both explore the challenges of fitting in and being true to oneself. Students then created projects comparing and contrasting their own experiences in middle school.

Computer science and engineering classes recently learned about building ships to carry cargo. Students used sheets of aluminum foil to design and construct ships to carry as much cargo as possible. They measured the foil, designed and crafted the ship, and estimated how much cargo it would carry.

Volleyball is at home this evening versus Tupelo!! 7th grade at 5:00 and 8th grade to follow. Games are played at the high school playing gym across from the Elementary. Entry is $5 cash only. We hope to see you there!!

Guntown Middle computer science and engineering classes are using iSTEM kits provided by Ashley Furniture to learn about various types of measurement instruments. They also discussed related career fields.

This Friday at 6:30pm before kickoff against Lafayette! We need the community, alumni, and former SHS, SES, SPS, and GMS faculty and staff there! Current SPS kindergartners and SHS seniors get in FREE at the south gate! Let’s "Pass the Pride!"

REMINDER: There will be no school on Monday, September 1, in observance of Labor Day. Classes resume at normal times on Tuesday, September 2.

Ms. Washington’s 7th grade ELA classes completed projects/presentations after reading the Japanese folktale, The Wise Old Woman. The projects identified theme, citing text evidence, plot elements, and comparing/contrasting with other Japanese folktales they researched.
